Searching for Interesting Information

Number your notebook paper 1-8.  Did you put your name at the top of your paper?  OK, now click on the link in each box and complete the task.  Write your answers on your notebook paper.  Have fun!

1. Click here to visit SFC's Mission page.  On your paper, write the year that SFC (Calvin Christian) was started.

2. When you follow this link, you will come to a page with the SFC mascot in the upper left corner.  Look carefully... what word is hidden in the horse's body?

3. Visit Sioux Falls' city website by clicking here.  Click on the link in the middle of the page titled "History of Sioux Falls".  Read the information on the history page to find out how many years ago the falls of the Big Sioux River were created.

4. Return to the "History of Sioux Falls" page by clicking here.  Scroll down to the third paragraph and find the month and year of the journal entry from Lewis and Clark's journey through Sioux Falls ("Soues River").

5. Link to the Sioux Falls Parks page by clicking here.  List the names of the three parks found on the left side of the page.

6. Using 50states.com, find the name of the capital city of South Dakota.

7. Scroll down a bit on the 50states.com page and find the nickname and state tree of South Dakota.  *Be sure to give BOTH answers!

8. What is the highest point in South Dakota?  Click here, then scroll through the page to find the answer.  When you find it, click on it to find out the name of the city where this mountain is located.   Give the mountain's name and city location on your answer sheet!
